Pampanga Career Guidance Network Forged


City of San Fernando – Through the joint initiative of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Pampanga Field Office; Department of Education (DepED); Technical Education and Skills Development Authority 3 (TESDA3), and the Pampanga Provincial and City of San Fernando PESO, a one-day consultation conference on Career Guidance and Counseling was recently held at the DOLE SWLTC Conference Room, DOLE Regional Office.
This collaborative effort was participated in by thirty two (32) Career Guidance Counselors and Coordinators from the different private and public schools of the province, as well as twenty nine (29) PESO Managers from various municipalities and schools from Pampanga.
The said event is aimed to formalize and establish the Network of Guidance Counselors and likewise provide the participants insights on their important roles for the career goal-setting of the students in their respective schools. They were also informed and have acquired knowledge on the modules on career employment coaching in helping out new college entrants in choosing their careers to lessen jobs and skills mismatch in the current labor market arena.
Ms. Geraldine Panlilio, Officer-In-Charge, Office of the Assistant Regional Director, said during her welcome remarks, that it is timely that a Career Guidance Network in the province of Pampanga be organized to address the needs of industries emerging within the province, especially those from the industrial zones, to be able to provide adequate information to our graduating students from the secondary level in choosing the right career paths.
The presenters from DOLE, PESO, TESDA, and the DepEd provided insights on their respective Programs and Services which aimed to help our high school students in choosing the right courses to take and which career paths to choose from. In particular, Mr. Alejandro V. Inza Cruz, head of the Technical Support and services Division of DOLE RO3 discussed DOLE’s programs on employment facilitation as well as its livelihood programs. Mr. Ferdinand Capati, DOLE Tarlac Field Office on the other hand, presented the Project Jobs Fit: DOLE 2020 Vision outputs, while Ms. Lourdes Romero of DepEd, provided insights of the National Career Aptitude Examinations (NCAE) situationer.
The formation of the Career Guidance Counselors Network was successfully conducted through the election of officers of a newly-created group of all Career Guidance Counselors and Coordinators in Pampanga. Their group is dubbed as the PAMPANGA CAREER GUIDANCE COUNSELOR/COACHES NETWORK (PCGCCN) where Ms. Amor Galang (Pampanga High School) was the duly-elected President, along with ten (10) officers from the different cities and municipalities to comprise the group. Meanwhile, Ms.Lourdes Romero, DepEd Division Supervisor, was chosen as the Network’s adviser.
Career Guidance Seminar plays a vital role in helping students choose the right career paths for their future. With the Career Guidance Network already in place, the future professionals in Pampanga will be given the opportunity to excel in the field of their choice. (Jerry Borja)
