Labor-Management Education and Phil-JobNet Orientation fo A-FAB HR Practitioners Held


AFAB, Mariveles, Bataan - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 3, through its Bataan Field Office, in partnership with the Authority of Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) recently held a Labor Relations, Human Relations and Productivity (LHP) Seminar to Human Resource (HR) Managers/Officers of the said Freeport area.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said based on a report by DOLE RO3 Regional Director Leopoldo B. De Jesus that the said seminar, commonly known as LHP was participated in by thirty eight (38) HR management practitioners from the different companies in A-FAB.
De Jesus added that the seminar aims HR reps in adhering compliance of labor laws, harmonize work relations and provide tools and techniques for global competitiveness to empower their respective workers.
HR participants were given light on the three-fold areas of the program, to wit:
·        Labor Relations (LR) area focuses on Basic LR concepts, employees discipline, workers rights/employers prerogative and unionism among others. 
·        Human Relations (HR) area focuses on understanding human needs, core values of the Filipino and organizational communication.
·        Productivity area focuses on how employees to become productive utilizing different tools and techniques.
Meanwhile, as a response to the Labor Secretary’s call to intensify the advocacy for all industries to post their job vacancies in the Philjobnet and achieve the one million vacancy target posting by the end of this year, participants were also provided an orientation on the said system.
According to Ms. Nely Punzalan, Head of the DOLE Bataan Field Office, eight (8) companies in Bataan were already registered in the system and were validated by the Regional Office as a positive result of the advocacy.
The Phil-Jobnet is an automated job and applicant matching system which aims to fast-track jobseekers search for jobs and employers search for manpower. For jobseekers, the system enables them to submit their own application, search for job opportunities, run job-matching process, get list of vacancies and employer information. Whereas, the employers can post vacancies, search for job applicants, run job matching and get list of applicants and corresponding information she added.
Also in attendance in the said seminar are the personnel of the newly established Labor Center of AFAB, who showed great interest on the subject and vowed to strengthen its partnership with the DOLE RO3 in the implementation of the different DOLE programs and services for the workers in the formal sector.  (Jerry Borja, with reporting from Carlito G.
