State College in Aurora partners with DOLE in its First Career Summit

 

Baler, Aurora – The Aurora State College of Technology’s (ASCOT’s) Third Year College BS Hotel and Restaurant Management students in coordination with Ms. Alma Bayudan of the school’s Public Employment Service Office (ASCOT) recently partnered with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Aurora Field Office in successfully concluding the first ever Career Summit in the province.
 
The summit themed “Choosing the Career You Dream For the Future” is a priority project of the state college that was held at the Sentro Baler in Baler Aurora, said DOLE Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante.
 
In his report to Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, the summit was participated by five (5) secondary schools namely Aurora National Science High School, Baler Essential Adventist Academy, Baler Institute, Baler National High School, and Calabuanan National High School with a total of 162 fourth year high school students in attendance with hopes of being guided in choosing the right careers.
 
Ms. Sheryl Ann Agsaulio, the Convention Vice-Chairman, formally welcomed all participants to the said summit.
 
ASCOT’s President, Dr. Eusebio V. Agara, Ph.D., in his keynote message urged all incoming college students to focus on achieving their dreams by studying hard and with a goal in mind.
 
Mr. Antonio M. Mutuc Jr., head of the DOLE-Aurora Field Office was the guest speaker of the event.
 
Mutuc provided a lecture on career and employment coaching and on labor market information where he focused on the topics of the proper steps in choosing the right career for the students today by providing right and timely information on the current labor market.  His lecture emphasized to the studes in attendance that the most important thing to consider in having a bright future is to value education and their family.
