DOLE all geared-up for 115th Labor Day Festivities in Central Luzon
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – All lined-up activities for the month-long Labor Day celebration in Central Luzon are set, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced Thursday.
This year’s 115th Philippine Labor Day Celebration anchors the theme, “Matatag na Kabuhayan at Trabaho, Tungo sa Progresibong Pagbabago.”
DOLE Regional Director Atty. Ana Dione said at least 10,362 jobs will be at stake for this year’s region-wide Labor Day Job and Business Fairs.
“Around 7,575 job vacancies for local employment will be offered from 143 participating companies from various industries. We are also expecting around 2,787 job vacancies for overseas employment from 24 private recruitment agencies, as processed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA),” Dione said, adding:
“The vacancies are preliminary figures submitted by the DOLE Field Offices in coordination with the Public Employment Service Offices in the region and they are expected to rise in the days to come.”
The region-wide job and business fairs on May 1 will be held at SM City Malls—Baliuag in Bulacan and Pampanga, Clark, and San Fernando Downtown in Pampanga.
Other venues on the same day include Metro Town Mall in Tarlac City, Freedom Park Capital Grounds, Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija, and Ayala Harbor Point, Subic Freeport Zone, Zambales.
Aside from May 1, another job and business fair for Bataan and nearby residents will be held on May 5 at the Vista Mall in Balanga City.
Dione said that the region-wide job and business fairs adopted the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Concept forged by the DOLE and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
“The TNK concept aims to achieve full employment and creation of jobs in Key Employment Generators (KEGs) specifically in the manufacturing, agri-business, construction, tourism, IT-BPM, transportation and logistics, and retail and trade,” Dione explained, adding:
“The job and business fairs are expected to increase rate in applicants hired in KEGS during the job fairs, apprise and advocate job seekers to consider entrepreneurial and business opportunities, and build strong partnerships among concerned agencies such as the DOLE, DTI, local government units, and stakeholders from the private sector.”
The DOLE will be joined by members of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), comprising DOLE attached agencies--the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Employment Overseas Administration (POEA), National Conciliation Mediation Board (NCMB), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RWTPB), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The different local government units, through their respective Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) and other partner agencies will also be present.
The DOLE has also partnered with the National Housing Authority and various local government units in Bulacan province for a Special Job Fair for NHA Relocatees.
The Special Job Fair will be held in 9 resettlement sites in the Municipalities of Pandi, Bocaue, Norzagaray, Balagtas, and City of San Jose Del Monte.
Last but not least, a Labor Day Breakfast Forum with the Paralegal Association of Region 3 (PAR-3) will be held on May 2 at the DOLE regional office.
The DOLE’s Technical Support and Services Division (TSSD) for Labor Relations and Labor Standards will be facilitating this event which aims to strengthen mechanisms on social dialogue.
