Bello distributes P2-million DOLE livelihood aid to 162 marginalized Bulakenyos

SAN RAFAEL, BULACAN – Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, over the weekend, led the distribution of a P2,000,000.00 livelihood assistance that benefited some 162 marginalized Bulakenyos in San Rafael town.

The livelihood provision was initiated by the office of Bulacan 3rd District Representative Lorna Silverio in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The intervention, intended to improve the existing micro-businesses of the district’s marginalized residents, is a project under the lawmaker’s Lingap at Serbisyong Kabuhayan Program.

The livelihood assistance, in form of various ambulant and food-retailing livelihood projects, was sourced from the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP).

Of the total livelihood beneficiaries, 37 received bicycle-assisted Negosyo sa Kariton (NegoKart) carts, while 63 received sari-sari store packages, and the remaining 62 received rice-trading packages.

The beneficiaries, mostly micro-small businesswomen, are marginalized individuals residing from the 3rd District towns of San Miguel, San Ildefonso, and Doña Remedios Trinidad.

Bello, who also served as guest of honor, urged the beneficiaries to do their best to improve their livelihood projects by transforming them into sustainable businesses.

Rep. Silverio, for her part, also urged her constituent-beneficiaries to strive for their betterment through the training and livelihood projects they received from government.

The livelihood assistance is an opportunity of blessings for the start of the new year says Milyn Judilla on behalf of her co-beneficiaries.

The 28-year old mom of two is a resident of San Miguel town and assured that she and her husband will work together in managing their NegoKart.

Joining Bello in the livelihood distribution are Bulacan 3rd District Rep. Lorna Silverio, DOLE Regional Director Atty. Ana Dione, and other Local Chief Executives and officials.

The DOLE’s Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns Director Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla and Financial Management Service Director Warren Miclat accompanied Bello in the said event.

Technical Support and Services Division for Welfare and Employment head Alejandro Inza Cruz and DOLE Bulacan Field Office head May Lyn Gozun were also present.
