More than 10k jobs await Central Luzon Stakeholders

MORE than 10,000 jobs are available in the upcoming 117th Labor Day Job and Business Fairs to be held at Kingsborough International Convention Center, City of san Fernando, Pampanga.

This was disclosed by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 3  Director, Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita who said that this year’s Mega Job Fair is aimed at the more vigilant redress of the issues of unemployment, underemployment and jobs mismatch in the region.

“Having close partnership with the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) as well as with our allied-partner agencies, we are positive that more Filipinos will land a good job this year,” Campita said.

Of the confirmed job vacancies solicited, Campita said that around 6,972 would be available for local employment from 64 participating private companies.

DOLE is expecting around 3, 597 job vacancies for overseas employment from 16 recruitment agencies, as processed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

Most job vacancies for local employment include production operators, customer service representatives, collection specialists, cashiers, retail / sales agents, accounts specialists, service crews, utility staff, baggers and skilled sewers.

On the other hand, most vacancies available for overseas employment include factory workers, carpenters, nurses, machine operators, welders, house workers, waiters and waitresses, masons, bakers and housekeepers.

This year’s Job and Business Fairs shall be conducted alongside two other significant activities. First is the groundbreaking ceremony of the DOLE-OFW Hospital at the PEO Compound, Barangay Sindalan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga and a visit of DOLE Officials and other guests to the New Clark City, National Government Administrative Center - a BBB project site and venue to the 2019 SEA Games.  

Aside from the May 1 TNK-Job Fair which will be held in San Fernando, Pampanga, another one will be conducted on the same date at Waltermart, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

Meanwhile, a pre-Labor Day TNK-Job Fair on April 30, 2019 shall be held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium, Capitol Compound, Malolos City, Bulacan and another one on May 2, 2019 at the Municipal Covered Court, Igulot, Bocaue, Bulacan.

Accordingly, DOLE Tarlac Provincial Field Office in partnership with the Provincial Government of Tarlac, Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) and the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council of Tarlac (TIPCT) shall hold the Grand Finals for its annual “Search for Talentadong Manggagawang Tarlaquenos” to be staged at the Metrotown Mall, San Miguel Tarlac City. This event, done yearly aims not only to foster camaraderie among participating labor and management groups in the Province, but also to discover the diverse talents of the “Manggagawang Tarlaquenos,” most especially on this “Araw ng Paggawa.”

As an integral part of the annual TNK-Job Fairs, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) shall likewise facilitate a Skills Training Seminar on “How to Start a New Business” to around 300 Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) beneficiaries at the Kingsborough International Convention Center. Various local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and DOLE livelihood beneficiaries’ products shall also be showcased and be made available for display and for sale on the same date.

DOLE will be joined by members of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) comprising the DOLE attached agencies -- National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), National Conciliation Mediation Board (NCMB), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RWTPB), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), OWWA and POEA.

Together with the DOLE Provincial Field Offices, the different provincial, city, and municipal local government units, through their respective PESOs, various Tripartite Industrial Peace Councils (TIPCs), and other allied-partner agencies shall likewise be present throughout the activities. 

Participating jobseekers may avail themselves of various pre-employment services, such as issuance of birth certificates, clearances, and PhilHealth cards from the Dole's partner agencies – Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Director Campita, in an interview with local media, urged jobseekers to be fully prepared when they participate in the job fair.

“I invite our jobseekers to participate in the job fair and ready themselves with their proper business attire, bring multiple copies of resumes, school credentials, certificates of employment, clearances, photos, passport (for overseas applicants), and other pertinent pre-employment documents needed by employers,” Campita added.

Mr. Alejandro V. Inza Cruz, Provincial Director II, Head of the Technical Services and Support Division 2 of DOLE RO3 said that to render efficiency in filling-up the Skills Registration System (SRS) Forms, jobseekers may already pre-register at the nearest Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in their respective areas prior to May 1.  

This year’s month-long Labor Day celebration in the region is anchored on the theme,

“Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino.”
