DOLE Clark activates orientations for Clark locators

Clark, PAMPANGA, February 23, 2020 - The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. III through its Clark Satellite Office conducted a series of orientations on labor standards in February of this year.

DOLE Clark OIC Jose Roberto Navata reported to Regional Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita that it is the joint interest of the office and the private sector to keep abreast of labor regulations and updates. “We in the agency continuously take part in the call of employers and employees for the right direction in terms of labor and employment. Being within an economic zone, we would like to remain proactive in the implementation of labor laws,” Navata said in an interview.

DOLE Clark has conducted and attended various conferences and meetings this month enabling discussions on labor standards.

On the 10th of February, DOLE Clark convened the officers of the Clark Human Resources Council (CHRC) to give them a head start of then newly issued Labor Advisory 6-20 or Guidelines on the Payment of Final Pay and Issuance of Certificate of Employment.

Another was on the 5th Annual National Convention of the Philippine Society of Private Midwife Clinic Owners (formerly named as PPMAP) where DOLE Clark through OIC Navata was able to respond to labor issues and concerns of PPMAP members. A few of the issues raised were on the application of the new Occupational Safety and Health Law to micro establishments and the implementation of new minimum wage in Central Luzon. The convention was held at Quest Hotel Conference Center on February 11.

The labor office also took part in ensuring adequate preparedness and response of both employers and employees amidst the COVID-19 situation. Over a month into the global epidemic, DOLE Clark partnered with the Department of Health in a joint effort conducting the Orientation and Updates on 2019 Novel Corona Virus Prevention and Control in the Workplace on February 13 at CDC HSD Training Hall. Labor Advisory 04-20 also known as Guidelines on 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Prevention and Control at the Workplace was discussed to the 120 participants.

“Concerns on labor are not only boxed on labor standards and monetary benefits. Occupational safety and health equally plays its role in the fulfillment of full, decent, and productive employment. Being well-informed becomes a weapon especially in today’s situation,” Navata remarked.

Meanwhile, on February 17, DOLE Clark held a back-to-back Labor Education seminar to the officers and staff of Widus Hotel and Casino and Thaitian Cigarettes and Tobacco Corporation as requested by the mentioned companies.

RD Angara-Campita acknowledged the effort of DOLE Clark in educating companies within its area. She encourages more companies to “be proactive and make preparedness an everyday mantra.”

For the rest of the month, DOLE Clark is set to attend the CHRC General Membership Meeting, join the Information Education Campaign of Clark Development Corporation and provide labor education seminar to the employees of L & T International Group Philippines, Inc.

Interested parties may go to the nearest DOLE office to file a request for various labor education trainings and seminars offered by the Department.
