Guidelines of payment for June 12 holiday released

 

City of SAN FERNANDO, June 11, 2020 -- The Department of Labor and Employment on Wednesday issued its guidelines for the payment of holiday pay on June 12, the nation’s 122nd anniversary of Philippine Independence.

 

Based on Labor Advisory No. 22, series of 2020, workers who report for work on June 12 shall be paid 200% of their regular salary for the first eight hours. 

 

In excess of 8-hour work, an additional 30% of their hourly rate shall be paid.

 

Meanwhile, if the employee did not work, the person shall be paid 100% of their salary for June 12. For employees who worked on a regular holiday that also falls on their rest day, the person shall be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate of 200%. In addition, work done overtime on a regular holiday that also falls on the employee’s rest day, they shall be paid an additional 30% of their hourly rate on the said day.

 

However, also indicated in the same advisory, companies are allowed defer the payment of the holiday pay until such time that the national health emergency is abated and normal business operations resume.

 

Totally closed establishments during the community quarantine period are exempted from the payment of holiday pay for June 12.
