Qualified private health workers entitled to compensation

City of San Fernando, PAMPANGA, June 7 - Eligible private health workers who have contracted severe COVID-19 from February 1, 2020 are entitled to the grant of compensation and shall be processed accordingly, the Department of Labor and Employment released Sunday.


Pursuant to the Labor Advisory No. 21, series of 2020, a private health worker shall be eligible to compensation if the following criteria are met: 

  • worker provides critical and urgent service for the containment and management of COVID-19 disease;

  • worker is an employee of a private health facility, employee of a contractor/subcontractor deployed in a public/private health facility, or an independent contractor and/or self-employed; and

  • worker has contracted severe COVID-19 while on duty or became a casualty thereof.


Application requirements should be submitted to the DOLE Regional Office where the employer of the health worker principally operates. These include the worker’s certificate of employment, medical abstract signed by attending physician, photocopy of any two valid government-issued IDs, and duly accomplished application form.


Meanwhile, in case of private health workers who have succumbed to COVID-19 disease, original copy of PSA death certificate or PSA-authenticated death certificate issued by local government unit is also required. 


Once submitted, concerned DOLE regional office will process and verify.
