Career Guidance Network In Bataan Forged
City of Balanga - Inspired by the initiative and cooperative effort of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Bataan Provincial Field Office; Department of Education (DepED); and the Bataan Provincial PESO, a one-day orientation on Career Guidance and Counseling was recently held at the Bulwagan 2 of the Bataan Provincial Capitol, City of Balanga, this province. This collaborative effort was participated in by no more than sixty five (65) Career Guidance and Counselors and Coordinators and eleven (11) PESO Managers from various municipalities and schools from Bataan.
The said event was aimed to formalize and establish the Network of Guidance Counselors and likewise provide the participants insights on their important roles for the career goal-setting of the students in their respective schools. They were also informed and have acquired knowledge on the modules on career employment coaching in helping out new college entrants in choosing their careers to lessen jobs and skills mismatch problem in the current labor market arena.
The program commenced with the welcoming remarks of Mr. Melchor A. Cui, PESO Manager of Bataan Provincial PESO and was followed by a short message from Ms. Cecilia D. Nacpil, Bataan Assistant School Division Superintendent (DepED). Ms. Nely P. Punzalan, Head DOLE Bataan Provincial Field Office, explained the Overview of the Orientation and the expected output of the said activities.
Resource speakers were Mr. Carlito G. Agbing from DOLE-Bataan Provincial Office who discussed Employment Trends and Employment Roadmap particularly the Central Luzon employment scenario. Sulong Kabataan Programs, which focused on Education, Employment and Environment and the Bataan Industrial Peace Council Initiatives, were jointly presented by Mr. Manny Ambrocio and Ms. Mia Editha Gabriel, Bataan Industrial Peace Council (BIPC) Adviser and Chairman respectively.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jose Cabrera of PESO Balanga City shared his knowledge and wisdom in conducting career guidance counseling utilizing Career Guidance Modules. The other DOLE Bataan Field Office staff were also present to facilitate the action planning to formalize and strengthen Career Guidance Counselors Network.
The formation of the Career Guidance Counselors Network was successfully conducted through the election of officers of a newly-created group of all Career Guidance Counselors and Coordinators in Bataan. They named their group as GUIDANCE COUNSELORS AND COORDINATORS ASSOCIATION OF BATAAN (GCCAB) where Ms. Mylene Hualda was the duly-elected President, along with six (6) officers and fourteen (14) coordinators from different municipalities to comprise the group. Career Guidance Seminar plays a vital role in helping students choose the right career paths for their future. With the Career Guidance Network already in place, the future professionals in Bataan will be given the opportunity to excel in the field of their choice.
