50,827 worker-beneficiaries receive salaries as of December 11; 5,927 paid during DOLE's 87th


City of San Fernando, PAMPANGA, December 11, 2020 - The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. III celebrated its 87th founding anniversary on Tuesday, December 8, by holding simultaneous payout of wages under TUPAD program in various provinces in Central Luzon. 


Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) aims to provide temporary wage employment to workers in the informal sector economy. In line with the COVID-19 pandemic, DOLE expanded its TUPAD program to cover workers who are affected by government measures to control the spread of the virus.


Regional Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita said that the regional office held week-long payment of TUPAD wages to all provinces in Central Luzon. “As of today, we have already paid 50,827 workers since TUPAD under Bayanihan 2 was on the roll,” RD Campita mentioned.


Joining the nationwide simultaneous payout, Regional Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita led the turnover of wages in Pampanga in a ceremony at the Pampanga Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on December 8. The ceremonial activity was attended by Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda and 20 TUPAD workers from the province.


“Sa ngalan po ng mga Kapampangan, taos puso po kaming nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng tulong ng DOLE sa probinsya,” Gov. Pineda said in a brief message during DOLE’s 87th anniversary. According to RD Campita, for December 8 alone, 5,927 workers under TUPAD were paid their salaries in advance. Of this number, 863 are beneficiaries from Pampanga. “This is DOLE in a nutshell. It is in our utmost goal to reach as many as possible in times that they need it most,” RD Campita furthered. 


Meanwhile, Jeffrey Bautista, Adviser on Political Affairs of Zambales Governor Hermogenes Ebdane, Jr. Bautista also joined DOLE’s 87th anniversary and led the payment of TUPAD salaries of 972 beneficiaries in Zambales.


As the anniversary week of DOLE ends, almost ?318.5 million was distributed to 50,827 Central Luzon workers under DOLE’s cash for work program. Of the total beneficiaries, 13,249 were from Pampanga while Bulacan and Tarlac had 10,861 and 10,096 beneficiaries, respectively. 5,122 were from Aurora; 4,885 from Zambales; 3,591 from Nueva Ecija; and 3,023 from Bataan.
