1,500 affected transport and informal sector workers in Tarlac City received their TUPAD salaries

Tarlac City, TARLAC, February 1, 2021 - The Department of Labor and Employment’s cash-for-work program has provided employment to some 1,500 informal sector workers from Tarlac City.

DOLE Regional Office No. III Regional Director Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita said in an interview that most of this batch of beneficiaries are transport and home-based workers as well as market and sidewalk vendors. “Isa sa mga apektado ng kasalukuyang pandemya ay ang mga drivers at mga nagtitinda ng kung anu-ano kaya sila rin ay nabigyan ng DOLE ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng pagkakakitaan,” RD Campita said. (Drivers and various types of vendors are some of the people affected by the current pandemic. This is why DOLE provided them another means to earn.)

A total of P6.3 million was distributed to the 1,500 worker-beneficiaries as payment of the work they rendered for 10 days.

The payout was in three consecutive batches from January 26 to 28, 2021 at Kaisa Hall, Tarlac City. This was facilitated by the City Government of Tarlac through its City Manpower Development and Employment Service Office (CMDESO) in close coordination with DOLE-III.

Meanwhile, DOLE Tarlac head who was present throughout the activity thanked the City Government of Tarlac for being an active partner of DOLE in the implementation of its employment and livelihood programs.
