DOT and DOLE’s first “Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso!” Philippine Job Fair in Region 3 launched in Pampang

 

City of San Fernando, PAMPANGA, March 31, 2023 - The Department of Tourism, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. III, conducted the first TRABAHO, TURISMO, ASENSO Philippine Tourism Job Fair in Central Luzon at Robinsons Starmills, San Fernando, Pampanga on March 30-31, 2023. 

According to Assistant Regional Director Alejandro Inza Cruz, the said job fair is ‘first of many’ future collaborations of the Department of Labor and Employment and the Department of Tourism. In his message, ARD Inza Cruz underscored the vital role of the tourism industry in providing various employment opportunities for Filipino workers. 

We hope that this collaboration [with DOT] does not end here, and that the Department of Labor and Employment is always willing to support any and all programs of the government for the Filipino worker

One of the aspiring jobseekers is Jericho Medina, 40 years old, who just resigned from his job at a hotel in Clark because of low pay. He has high hopes of landing a job through the job fair. 

The 2-day job fair from March 30 to 31, 2023 offered a total of 3,365 vacancies from 46 employers in Pampanga and the rest of Region 3. 

170 job applicants participated in the two-day job fair where 128 were identified as qualified and 67 were reported as ‘near-hires’. 

DOT Undersecretary Ferdinand C. Jumapao, DOT-III Regional Director Richard G. Daenos, DOLE Pampanga Provincial Director Arlene Tolentino, Pampanga Provincial Tourism Officer Randy Del Rosario, Tourism Officer of the City of San Fernando Ching Pangilinan, and Tourism Officer of the Municipality of Mexico Michael Castañeda graced the event.##
