City of San Fernando, PAMPANGA, January 14, 2021 - The Department of Labor and Employment forged its partnership today with Philippine General Hospital (PGH) to manage the clinical services of the Philippine’s first hospital dedicated for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In his message during the signing of the memorandum of understanding, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III shared how the concept of OFW hospital came into life and also thanked the people who made it possible. “Hopefully by March 28, madedeliver na natin itong ospital na ito sa ating mga OFWs,” said Secretary Bello.
Dr. Gerardo D. Legaspi, Director of the UP-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH), in his short message, reiterates PGH’s contribution to the success of the OFW hospital. He said that PGH’s commitment includes ‘administration processes, manpower organization, treatment and infrastructure development, and health programs for OFWs.’
Meanwhile, according to Thaison’s status report, the construction of the OFW hospital is already at 51%. It is set to be completed by March this year.
Together with Secretary Bello, Architect Dan Lichauco of Thaison also led the walkthrough inside the nearly completed OFW Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga. They were joined by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Pampanga Board Member Rosve V. Henson, Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Leopoldo J. Vega, and other DOLE senior officials.
