DOLE awards starter Kits to 18 BataeƱos

BATAAN, January 28, 2022 - The Department of Labor and Employment Bataan Provincial Field Office awarded eighteen (18) beneficiaries with Starter Kits amounting from Php 10,000.00 to Php20,000 each. The said assistance is under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program also known as Kabuhayan Program.

DOLE Bataan head Leilani Reynoso mentioned that the difference of the kabuhayan program from other DOLE programs is that “DILP is sustainable; it may grow into a profitable business as long as these beneficiaries slash new entrepreneurs make the most out of it.”

With the aim to alleviate unemployment and uplift their quality of life, individual beneficiaries from Abucay, Samal, Dinalupihan, and Mariveles received livelihood business packages according to their identified and preferred start-up business such as food vending, rice trading, and sari-sari store.

Dolly Felix, a housewife from Dinalupihan, took online orders for embutido and halaya in time for the New Year's celebration. Sales from this start-up was not only beneficial in maintaining a stable food vending business but also in buying maintenance medicines for her husband who recently underwent an open-heart surgery.

Meanwhile, Mary Rose Perez of Samal, whose business was greatly affected by the pandemic, thanked DOLE for the goods she received. She hopes to continue helping her family and be able to restore and reinforce their current business.

The beneficiaries thanked the Department for providing them a way through their daily financial struggle by giving them a chance to be entrepreneurs. ##
